THE LODGE is located in the middle of this 10,000 hectares ecological reserve known as The Tambopata; only 30km from Puerto Maldonado on the Madre de Dios River. Adventure into this wonderful place and experience firsthand the bustling and cheerful flocks of parrots and more than 700 species of other birds. You will be enchanted with over 1200 types of butterflies and you will be able to cohabitate with hundreds of animal species that seek refuge in the heart of the Amazon Rainforest.

Ornithology - the study of birds - is a special fascination for those people who enjoy the magnificent beauty of bird watching. Most people simply cannot believe their eyes when they see the tremendous variety of bird species that inhabit the Amazon Rainforest.

Our lodge, an ecological nature reserve, offers the best location in the Amazon for bird watching. The reserve has a huge variety of bird species, all of them uniting together in an intense and colorful menagerie.

We invite you to come and observe the birds of the Amazon Rainforest, learn more about bird ecology, build your list of rare birds that you have witnessed firsthand, and make new discoveries about their unique behavior, or just come and enjoy this amazing bird-watching spectacle.

Our lodge, has the best and most strategically-located observation places in the Amazon. The most important areas include: Monkey Island, the platforms at Lost Cocha, and the beaches and waterways of Lake Apu Victor.

Visitors are responsible for their own equipment and other provisions that they deem necessary to achieve their bird-watching goals.

THINGS YOU SHOULD BRING ALONG ON A TRIP TO PUERTO MALDONADO

•  Binoculars,

•  Camera and films (ASA 200 and 400 for the inner forest)

•  Light clothes, a jacket, long sleeve shirts and long pants (cotton) wide brim hat and sun glasses for sunny days,

•  100% waterproof rain gear (long poncho or rain wear)

•  Insect repellent (at least 50% Deet),

•  Sunscreen lotion

•  One pair of lightweight ankle height boots and sandals

•  Flashlight, enough batteries (alkaline) and bulbs

•  Towel, swimming suit

•  Personal medicines and/or supplies (liquid for contact lenses for example)

•  A day pack and one back pack or duffel bag of luggagee.

NOTE:

BAGGAGE: Due to the difficulty of transporting large pieces of baggage by boat, we strongly recommend that you take only a backpack or small

suitcase - just the essential items for your stay in the rainforest. Extra luggage can be stored in our office in Puerto Maldonado or in your hotel before departure to the jungle.

VACCINATION: We suggest that you be vaccinated against yellow fever at least 10 days prior to your arrival.

CHILDREN: 2 to 10 years old pay half price.
